A Married Couple Becomes Alarmed About Their Abusive And Irresponsible Drinking And Deliberates Whether They Exhibit Any Alcohol Dependency Signs

Angie and Lenny have been married for five years. They wanted to experience some fun and excitement before they decided to have some kids and so they consciously fashioned an incredibly active social life.

The central problem, it needs to be pointed out, is that nearly everything they do to have fun somehow includes drinking. For instance, all of the dinner engagements, happy hours, sporting events, family get-togethers, and parties with friends they go to somehow involve drinking.

If they were sporadic drinkers this wouldn't be such a major problem. Due to the fact they drink in an abusive manner, however, they are beginning to notice some instantly recognizable alcohol-related problems in their lives.

For instance, just four weeks ago Lenny got his first DWI and has been leaving early from work because of alcohol-related health problems. Moreover, Lenny's last two or three performance assessments at work have been less than acceptable and he has started to forget what he says or does while he drinks. As a final point, Lenny has been experiencing sleep-related problems and his family has begun to exhibit anxiety about his drinking behavior.

Similar to Lenny's circumstances, Angie has been feeling down in the dumps about things in her life and to manage these feelings, she has been drinking more habitually than any time in the past six months. Furthermore, Angie has been experiencing a lot of headaches and going through awful hangovers from drinking. Lastly, Angie has been feeling substantially less active in the morning, she has been getting to work late every Monday, and she has been receiving some strong criticism from her relatives, family members, friends, and coworkers about her abusive and hazardous drinking.

One Wednesday evening while watching the television, Lenny and Angie without any planning whatsoever discovered a TV special about alcohol facts and alcoholism facts in general and about alcoholism signs in particular. This television program was a real jolt to Lenny and Angie because many of the alcohol facts that were talked about appeared as if they were undeniably associated with some of the alcohol related problems Lenny and Angie had been suffering through.

With thoughts of the TV program still etched in her mind, Angie asked Lenny if some of the alcoholism signs they have been manifesting could mean that they are dependent on alcohol or conceivably becoming addicted to alcohol. Lenny didn't know the answer to Angie's inquiry and so he suggested that they make an appointment with one of the healthcare practitioners at the local substance abuse treatment facility to find out more about the gravity of their drinking problems.

Strangely enough, even though their drinking behavior hadn't yet changed, it was plain to see that Angie and Lenny were at the very least addressing their drinking issues, they were eager to find out more about their drinking behavior, and they were interested in discovering how they could substantially decrease or get rid of the alcohol-related difficulties that had started to intensify.

When Lenny and Angie went to bed that evening, they made up their minds that the next afternoon, Lenny would call and make an appointment for both of them at the drug and alcohol treatment clinic located in the middle of town. After they made a promise to one another that they would do whatever it takes to overcome the alcohol-related issues that had developed in their lives, they actually had the most revitalizing night's sleep they could recall in the last year.
